Picture
yourself in the not too distant future, ready to take your first flight
at home with your paraglider...
This is
what a bunch of us in Tulsa, Oklahoma are getting ready to do....head
West and learn to fly.
We have
found a farm field, part of a sod farm, for us to start getting use to
the joy of paragliding. The picture to the left is the first kiting of a
brand new Muse...gorgeous....marvelous....pure platinum joy.
We will
soon be headed out West to take instruction from the world renown
Bob Armond.
The goal of the training course is to provide us with the skills and
knowledge to set up the equipment, properly ground handle the
paraglider, launch and land with instructors assistance and to reach the
goal of flying without the instructor’s assistance in just a few days.
Hopefully we will learn all aspects of Powered Paragliding including
Reverse & forward launch’s, tips and tricks, equipment maintenance,
weather, flying techniques, and many other items that would normally
take a student many years to learn on their own. Below is a picture of
Bob taking off from slope near the ocean:
There are
four of us going...Dave, Posey, Robert, and Ken. We are counting down
the days. For now we are trying to get in as much ground practice as we
can in the 105 degree weather here in Tulsa...the day the above picture
was taken it was 105 with a heat index of 110....we drink lots of water.
We don't
have many pictures right now....hoping to have plenty to add when we
return from our training with Bob. We hope to keep a list of good
paragliding links, a forum, and gallery on PPGOK.Com. For now....a few
more pictures of the crew getting the hang of the wind and the Muse.
